Jobs

Transcript of the conversation between President-elect Donald Trump and Peter Throw, Part XVII

Peter Throw (PT) - Now, Don... let's discuss your priorities on Jobs, Energy and the Environment...

Donald Trump (DT) - Yes, Peter...

PT - Will you  ratify the Paris Agreement on the environment?

DT - No, Peter, I won't...it will destroy jobs in America...

PT - Will you lift the regulations limiting the production of non-renewable sources of energy, such as coal?

DT- Yes, Peter...I will lift some of them...to free jobs for the Americans...

PT - Listen, Don...are you against the environment?...

DT- No, Peter...I am not against the environment...I value a clean environment as much as you do and everybody does...It's a matter of priorities...

PT - Which priorities?

DT- Between jobs and the environment...

PT - You are for jobs, right?...

DT - Sure I am...Listen, Peter... do you put dinner on the table for you and your family with clean air?...

PT - No ... I need a job...

DT - Jobs!...if the American Dream can be described in one word...that's Jobs!...Jobs for everybody...

PT - ...

DT - Look Peter... some thirty years  ago you were living in North America... What was the population of the United States then?

PT- 200 million...

DT - What is now?

PT - 350 million.

DT - A seventy percent increase, Peter...The same for Canada whose population rose from 20 to 35 million in that very same time period...

PT - ...

DT - The United States and Canada have now 70% more jobs than they had at that time...Now, tell me Peter... what was the population of Portugal in the mid-eighties?

PT - 10 million.

DT- And now?

PT - 10 million.

DT - How many jobs did Portugal create in that very same time span?

PT - None... actually it destroyed a few hundred thousand...

DT - You see, Peter... the difference between the American Dream and the European Nightmare has also one name...Jobs!

PT - It is for that purpose ... I guess ... that you want Public in America ...to create the climate of  opinion that's favourable to free entreprise and the creation of jobs...isn't it, Don...?

DT- You are absolutely right, Peter ... and I believe I made the perfect choice...

.
